FAQs

What is Issara silk?

Our silk is 100% natural ‘mutmee’ silk, a Thai form of ikat. It’s handmade by artisans in rural Khon Kaen, northeastern Thailand, using traditional methods passed down through generations. To learn more about how our silk is made, visit the Silk Making page.

What are my payment options?

We accept payment by credit card or PayPal.

Where do you ship to?

We offer free international shipping. Visit the Shipping page for details.

What can I do with my silk?

Small pieces are perfect as scarves or table runners. Medium-sized pieces work as wraps, throws, or wall hangings. Large pieces can be used to upholster furniture or made into pillowcases.

Can silk be washed?

Silk can be washed, though we recommend doing so as infrequently as possible.

To clean, gently hand wash in cold water. Rough handling may damage the weave or color. Use a mild, pH neutral detergent, and be sure to wash separate from other items, as some color transfer may occur.

Will sold out designs be restocked?

Our silk is made in small batches, so stock is usually limited to several pieces per design, and designs are generally one-off. We try to make new designs available every few months.

Can pieces be made to order?

We generally don’t accept custom orders, though exceptions may be made for large enough orders with a sufficient lead time. To learn more, please contact us directly with your order requirements.
